Welcome to the Eagle River Road Web Site . . .

Click for more detailed mapThe Eagle River Road Rehabilitation is a project to extend the service life of the road and enhance both safety and capacity. The project involves resurfacing, and widening of the current road based on an ongoing analysis of the crash history. The project begins at Upper Terrace Street (MP 5.3) and continues to the end of the paved roadway at the Eagle River Nature Center (MP 12.6). We  continue to meet affected property owners and seek public input.

Where are we now?

We are completing preliminary design in preparation of initiating the right of way acquisition phase of the project (when we start working with individual, affected property owners where additional right of way is required).  Before beginning that process, we are fine tuning the design to keep impacts and the amounts of right of way needed to a minimum.  As part of that effort to reduce the amount of right of way needed, we are currently coordinating with Alaska Department of Natural Resources on specific park land issues. The acquisition of right of way and final design efforts will be delayed a bit while these park land issues are resolved.  See new schedule.
